All shipments are transported by Licensed US Freight Carriers and covered by limited liability insurance coverage provided by the actual (transporting) freight carrier. Liability varies with the carrier and the class of the item. Actual liability varies from 10 cents per pound to $25.00 per pound. for some new “new and factory packed" items. If your item is not "factory new and factory packed" it will be insured as NMFC (National Motor Freight Class) #100240-01 at 10 cents per pound.

If you require additional insurance beyond the limited liability coverage provided by the carrier, we can refer you to a credible Freight Insurance Company. You may also find that that your business insurance or your home owners insurance provides coverage during transportation. In some cases your credit card company may provide insurance. In either case, you should verify this with your insurance provider or credit card company.

Notice:
Levels of liability are set forth by the carrier in their tariff schedule. Claims are handled directly between the shipper, consignee and the carrier. American Freight Companies is not involved in the actual claims process and has no influence in the carrier's processing of a claim. Claims with the carrier must be filed within 48 hours of delivery. The claimant should only file for loss or damage on the product which was shipped. Always be as concise as possible in noting specific damage on the delivery receipt. Our representatives can coach you on filing a claim and provide the proper forms.
